Trump campaign blitzes Michigan, New Mexico with last-minute ads

Republican nominee Donald Trump is expanding his last-minute campaign efforts in the swing states of Michigan and New Mexico, a staffer said today.

The campaign is doing a $25 million buy for the final seven days before Nov. 8 in Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Maine, Michigan, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Virginia, Nevada and New Hampshire. That buy adds Michigan and New Mexico, states where the Republican candidate appears to be surging at the last minute.

This expansion is happening “as Florida and Ohio are decisively turning towards Mr. Trump,” the campaign said in a statement, and Trump is seeing “strong growth” in North Carolina.

“The data clearly shows that Mr. Trump’s message is reaching voters and we are expanding the map.” Trump’s digital director Brad Parscale said in a statement. “This addition to our already aggressive paid media outreach illustrates Mr. Trump’s commitment to reaching out to all voters in must-win states before Election Day. While Mr. Trump continues to climb in the polls and accelerate outreach in states like Michigan and New Mexico that are rarely won by Republican Presidential candidates, Hillary Clinton is preoccupied fighting the sitting FBI Director and President Obama over yet another email scandal.”

By increasing Trump’s presence in battleground states the campaign is “well-positioned for an impressive victory on Nov. 8,” Parscale added.
