Democratic Vice President Joe Biden has issued Republican President-elect Donald Trump some unsolicited advice as Inauguration Day approaches.
PBS’ Judy Woodruff sat down with Biden and rattled off a number of tweets Trump’s posted on various issues, including one in which he called Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) “the head clown” over Obamacare and another in which Trump complained about President Barack Obama’s roadblocks and mocked the “smooth transition” of power.
Biden interjected without sympathy.
“Grow up, Donald, grow up,” he said, smiling, in the Thursday interview. “Time to be an adult, you’re president. You gotta do something. Show us what you have. You’re gonna propose the legislation, we’re gonna to get to debate it. Let the public decide, let ’em vote in Congress. Let’s see what happens.”
Biden added: “It’s gonna be much clearer what he’s for and against — and what we’re for and against — now that it’s gonna get down to actually discussing in detail these issues that affect peoples’ lives.”
As for his “grow up” directive, it’s difficult to forget Biden’s fiery suggestion in October while campaigning for Hillary Clinton that he’d physically fight Trump if the clock could be turned backward.
“No, I wish we were in high school, I could take him behind the gym!” he said. “That’s what I wish.”
Biden’s declaration came after he ripped Trump over the infamous leaked audio of Trump speaking crudely about women — then he told the crowd the media often asks if he wished he could debate Trump.
